• A monologue is one person talking (unlike a scene which is two or more people talking).
• A monologue is the oldest form of acting, dating back to the Greeks, over 2,500 years ago!
• A monologue is not a whole play but it still must have a place to start, an avenue to carry the information forward and an ending.
• A monologue will give the listener an idea of what the story is about.
• Monologues are the easiest dramatic work to audition with.
•  A monologue should never be more than 2 minutes in length.
• Monologues are best found in plays.
• Monologues can be found on the internet, at a local book store or at the library.

* If someone wants to become an actor, they need to start reading plays! Most school libraries have a copy of popular plays. If not, they can order the play via the inner library loan program.
