The Hollywood Sign is the most famous sign in the world and is one of the most photographed icons in the world. The Sign has appeared in countless motion pictures and television productions as well as in photos taken by millions of tourists and residents. It stretches four stories high and 450 feet long across the top of Mt. Lee in the Hollywood Hills. The original sign, erected in 1923, had 4,000 studded light bulbs and was only expected to last only 18 months. Now, 89 years later and after several refurbishing acts, the sign continues to reign as the symbol of Hollywood!
